Boating Adventure in Altmühltal: A Day of Paddling and Fun!

We’ve got an exciting tale to share from our incredible boating escapade in the picturesque Altmühltal region. It was a day filled with laughter, paddling, and breathtaking scenery that left us all in awe.

Getting Ready to Ride

Our journey kicked off with an early morning train ride to Pappenheim. Spirits were high as we chatted, laughed, and shared our excitement for the upcoming adventure. Upon arrival, we walked to where we were going to pick up the boats. The woman in charge there gave us some information about the trip. She pointed out the beer gardens along the way and told us about the rapids. We grabbed a mix of two-person and three-person canoes, as well as two one-man kayaks. After putting on our life jackets, we were all set to start the journey!

Paddling Downstream

Launching our boats onto the clear waters, we embarked on a 17 km downstream paddle towards Dollnstein. The tranquil surroundings were an instant remedy for city-worn souls, and the gentle current ensured a relaxing and enjoyable ride. The rapids along the route were a pleasant surprise, adding an exhilarating twist to our journey. The rush of water and the adrenaline pumping through our veins made for some unforgettable moments.

Stops Along the Way

Our journey was punctuated by delightful stops. On our first stop we had a few snacks and some paddlers decided to switch boats to try something new. A special mention goes to the charming beer garden where we enjoyed a leisurely late lunch. Good food, great company, and a serene setting–what more could one ask for?

Train Ride Back

As the day drew to a close, we bid farewell to the river and hopped onto the train back to Nuremberg. Tired but content, we relived the highlights of the day and shared stories that will undoubtedly become cherished memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this unforgettable journey through Altmühltal. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures that will quench your thirst for exploration and fun! Our next hike is on Saturday, September 2, and on Saturday, September 9 we are going to a beer festival. Sign up to globallocals.de to join us!
