SASANISIMOVA – Kurznachrichten aus Charkiw” at Defet Atelier and Gallery House

The much-anticipated solo exhibition of renowned Charkiw artist Sascha Anisimova, titled “SASANISIMOVA – Kurznachrichten aus Charkiw” (SASANISIMOVA – Short Messages from Charkiw), will be unveiled at the Defet Atelier and Gallery House. The exhibition, organised by fotoszene nürnberg e.V.*, showcases Anisimova’s thought-provoking artworks inspired by the ongoing conflict in her hometown. Through a captivating blend of photography, drawing, and textual elements, she creates diary-like impressions that offer a deeply personal and emotional portrayal of the events. These artworks from Nuremberg’s partner city, Charkiw, serve as poignant testimonies to the war in Ukraine.

Having previously displayed her works at the FARBE BEKENNEN exhibition in the open-air gallery by the construction fence of Nuremberg’s Lorenzkirche in 2021, Anisimova returns two years later with this exclusive solo exhibition at Defet-Haus. The exhibition not only highlights the artist’s unique creative approach but also underscores the significance of her subject matter.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ms. Silvie Preußer, the Deputy Head of the Office for International Relations of the City of Nürnberg. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and engage with the artist, Sasha Anisimova, in person during the opening.

The vernissage of “SASANISIMOVA – Kurznachrichten aus Charkiw” will take place on Sunday, June 11, at 5pm at Defet-Haus. Prior to the opening, a preview of the exhibition will be held on Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11, from 2pm to 5pm. Additionally, there will be a special opening on June 17 and June 18, from 11am to 6pm.

The exhibition will run from June 11–October 8, 2023, with regular opening hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm–5pm. For those interested in visiting outside of the regular hours, appointments can be arranged via email at vorstand@die-fotoszene.de.
