Kirchentag 2023: Nuremberg Welcomes the German Evangelical Church Congress

Nuremberg is thrilled to host the 38th Deutsche Evangelische Kirchentag (DEKT) from June 7–11, 2023. This grand event has been eagerly anticipated, offering five days of vibrant discussions, inspiring worship services, engaging debates, and spiritual encounters. As the city prepares for this momentous occasion, Nuremberg’s streets will come alive with the spirit of unity and faith.

Each day of the Kirchentag offers a rich program of events and activities:

Wednesday, June 7:

• Evening of Encounters (6:30pm–10pm): The historic Old Town will be filled with cultural and historical experiences. Explore the City Archives at Hefnersplatz to discover Nuremberg’s captivating history, or indulge in delicious treats and beverages from various international partner cities at Rathausplatz. Learn about human rights and equality initiatives at the stand of the Human Rights Office & Equality Office, alongside the Allianz against Right-Wing Extremism and the Community Mediation Network.

Thursday, June 8–Saturday, June 10:

• Messe im Markt (Market Fair) at Messezentrum Halle 1 (10:30am–6:30pm): Visit Nuremberg’s exhibition booth (Stand C29) and immerse yourself in the city’s charm and offerings. Experience Nuremberg as a toy city by trying out different board games, and marvel at the traditional costumes of the Nuremberg Christkind, the embodiment of the city’s Christmas spirit. Sunday, June 11:
