Black Lives in America Film Series: “The Woman King”

What: “Special screening as part of the ‘Black Lives in America’ film series in cooperation with the German-American Institute in Nuremberg. After-film talk with Daniel Eshete (ISD Nuremberg).

The Agojie, an all-female unit of warriors, defended the African kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century with remarkable martial arts and ferocity the world had never seen before. Inspired by true events, ‘The Woman King’ follows the emotional and epic journey of General Nanisca as she recruits and prepares a next generation of warriors to fight an enemy that threatens to destroy their way of life. Because some things are worth fighting for!”
